The Michigan Veterans Trust Fund provides emergency grants to Michigan Veterans and dependent family members to help them weather short-term financial crisis.
Eligibility
- Michigan Resident
- Honorably Discharged with 180 days of service during a wartime period (with exceptions)
Qualifying Wartime Periods
- WWI April 6, 1917 to November 11, 1918 (until April 1, 1920 if in Russia)
- WWII December 7, 1941 to December 31, 1946
- Korea June 27, 1950 to January 31, 1955
- Vietnam February 28, 1961 to May 7, 1975
- Persian Gulf August 2, 1990 to Present
Dependents can apply if the veteran is eligible under certain circumstances
Required Documentation
- Discharge Papers / DD214
- Proof of Residence
- Marriage Certificate and Birth Certificates for Minor Children
- Death Certificate of a Deceased Spouse or Parent
- Bills or account statements regarding the items for which you are seeking an MVTF grant
- Documentation of any disability rating
- Proof of employment or other income
- Evidence of efforts at other appropriate agencies
